Abstract

Abstract: Perception of the Local Community for Development of Bunaken Tourism
Destination in North Sulawesi. Bunaken is one of the excellent tourist destination in the city of
Manado, Bunaken has one of the under water potential in indonesia. Bunaken Island is inhabited
by local communities who have been living and inhabiting the island.Various kinds of problems
that occur in the Bunaken Park, among others, such as the development zone problems, damage
coral reefs, infrastructure, garbage, employee, and clean water. From a wide range of existing
problem arises diverse public perception. This study aims to explain the perceptionof local
communities for the development of tourist destinations Bunaken in North Sulawesi.The research
was conducted in Bunaken tourist destinations using qualitative descriptive.Local perception
is measured by using a few aspects of the question and describe to the Likert scale, Questions
regarding management, garbage, infrastructure, jobs, and clean water which has been the major
problem in Bunaken island.The results of this study indicate that the public perception of the ten
categories there are positive aspects to agree / support / good / involved,although there are two
categories of bad aspects, such as garbage management and infrastructure by the government.
The suggestion to beconsidered is the government or Bunaken national park managers to do
counseling and supervision in good and right that can change various aspects of the public
perception that negative into a positive for the development of tourist destinations
