Abstract

Abstract: Local Community Engagement Study on Industry Accommodation. The development
of accommodation can open job opportunities and opportunities for improving the welfare of
local communities. Bunaken is an island with underwater beauty that is famous all over the world.
With Bunaken marine park and its development of the accommodation industry,there has been
a substantial increase of opportunities for local communities to take part in working and utilize
the resources available. Information gained though the development of tourism and industrial
development in Bunaken accommodation is well developed, and until now there are 21 resorts
and 3 homestays located on the island of Bunaken but the welfare of the local community as a
whole has not changed. The aims of this study are to see to what extent is the involvement of local
communities in the accommodation industry in Bunaken Island and to identify the position of the
work of local communities and then analyze the involvement of local communities in improving
the economic status, and further recommends the factors that can increase empowerment in the
accommodation industry in the island of Bunaken. This study uses qualitative research method
that only describes and analyzes the findings descriptively, and from this study shows that the
involvement of local communities in the accommodation industry in Bunaken Island is good
but the results of study also reveal that the job classification of local employees is based on
educational backgrounds and the employee’s wage does not fit the job responsibilities
