Abstrak

Concrete has the characteristics of being strong against compressive forces, but has a low tensile strength value. Therefore we need an innovation of mixing concrete with elastic fiber added materials, one of which uses coconut fibers in the concrete. Coal ash is part of the rest of the coal combustion. The chemical properties of fly ash in the form of silica and alumina with a percentage of up to 80% make fly ash a cement substitute material.

In this study, there are 3 concrete compositions, namely normal concrete, concrete with the addition of 0.125% coconut fiber and 12.5% ​​fly ash as a substitute for cement, and the last one is concrete with the addition of 0.2% coconut fiber and 12.5% ​​fly ash as a cement substitute. All of the concrete passed the compressive strength and split tensile strength tests of the concrete to determine its effect.

The effect of adding coconut fiber and fly ash substitution did not have a significant difference on the results of the compressive strength value, but on the split tensile strength value there was a significant difference. This proves that the addition of coconut fiber and fly ash substitution can increase the value of low tensile strength of concrete
