A solar power system for coconut shell charcoal powder (Cocos nucifera) production equipment, used as a raw material for herbal toiletries. This research aims to design, build, and analyze a solar power system (PLTS) as a backup energy source for coconut shell charcoal powder production equipment. Utilizing this waste into charcoal powder offers high added value, particularly for herbal toiletries. However, the production process still relies heavily on conventional electricity supplies. By implementing a solar power system, this research seeks to reduce dependence on PLN electricity, offer a sustainable energy solution, and minimize long-term operational costs. The method used is a Design and Construction (DEP) integrated with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model. The analysis phase includes identifying the power consumption profile and solar energy potential at the site. The design phase focuses on designing an efficient system configuration. The development phase includes the assembly and integration of the solar power system into the production equipment. The evaluation phase is conducted to test the performance and energy efficiency of the generated electricity, ensuring optimal system function.
As a result, the solar power system successfully provided reliable backup power, resulting in significant operational cost savings compared to relying solely on PLN electricity. This implementation not only supports small and medium-sized industries (SMEs) in processing waste into valuable products but also contributes to clean energy initiatives. This research is expected to serve as a model for implementing renewable energy in similar industrial sectors.
